Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT) is a pioneer in engineering education, marking 12 successful years since its establishment in 2011 in Baruipur, Kolkata. Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).

The institute's achievements include being ranked eighth among the "Best Emerging Engineering Colleges in India" in 2017, and the number one "Best Emerging Engineering College in West Bengal" by Times Engineering for four consecutive years (2016-2019). In 2020, Zee 24 Ghanta honored GMIT with the "Best Emerging and Promising Engineering College Award".

Our Principal's Message:

Welcome to Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT), a joint venture of educational conglomerate JIS Group. GMIT was started in the year 2011 with a vision to meet the demand for perfectly trained Industry ready professionals. A self-financed degree engineering college affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) Kolkata and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The evolution of the institute over the past decade has witnessed a strong blend of state-of-the-art infrastructure and intricately tangled human resources. The GMIT is committed to providing professional education with thrust on Inventions and innovations in engineering which have constantly provided us with a quality of life.

Nowadays, in the world of competition, any institute shall have to excel with perfection to survive. Keeping abreast of this challenge the students need to acquire an industry-oriented specific skill set along with their communicative skills apart from regular student-faculty interaction. All these cannot be perfect and accurate suddenly. It has to be planned and cultivated over time, and we do it at a slow pace from day one. GMIT has given special attention to supplement the normal course curricula with Career Development Cell (CDC) which caters to tuning the individual student with a customized skill set.

We carve out time to balance academics with extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to give students an additional dimension to all-around development.
