Coal City Schools offer a public education for grades Pre-K through 12th. Our District is bounded by 55 square miles in Eastern Grundy county Illinois. We serve the communities of Carbon Hill, Coal City, Diamond, and the Goose Lake area.
Our schools serve students in attendance centers. The Early Childhood Center serves students from Pre-K through first grade and was constructed in 2008. The Elementary School was built in 1955 and serves grades 2 and 3. The Intermediate School houses 4th and 5th-grade students and is our oldest facility at 100 years (1917-2017). Our Middle School serves grades 6 through 8 and was built in 1999. Coal City High School was built in the 1970s, and is home to the Coalers!
Our High School Campus offers fantastic sports fields and the Coal City Performing Arts Center, an 800-seat theater that you have to see to believe!
